Dr Denis Dragovic draws attention to post-conflict consequences and considers the necessary steps to rebuild a country torn by civil war. Dragovic highlights that while finding a workable solution to today’s civil wars and conflicts has been a priority, questions still remain for tomorrow’s centres of international rebuilding. He suggests that engaging with religious institutions, and their leaders, is critical for successful post-conflict state building in Syria and Iraq.

Dr Denis Dragovic is an international development expert, an Honorary Fellow at the University of Melbourne and a regular media contributor and writer on Islamic State. He holds a PhD in political theology from the University of St Andrews, UK, and is the author of Religion and Post-Conflict Statebuilding: Roman Catholic and Sunni Islamic Perspectives (Palgrave, 2015).
