The AIIA Qld presentation program ended the year on a high note on December 8 when Michael Otago addressed members on The Arab Spring: What Happened? Michael was born and educated in Brisbane and served as Director of DFAT’s Queensland Office in 1993-97. Michael was a senior officer in the Queensland Government’s Trade Division for ten years, including as Middle East Trade Representative based in Doha, Qatar. He was General Manager of a private consulting firm in the Middle East before returning to Brisbane, where he was a Senior Advisor to the Governor of Queensland. Michael speaks, reads and writes Arabic.
