New National Deputy Director Bryce Wakefield

We are pleased to welcome aboard new National Deputy Director Bryce Wakefield.

Bryce will be joining the Australian Institute of International Affairs in August.

Bryce has lived, worked and researched in the United States, Europe, Japan and New Zealand. Between 2009 and 2012 he was Asia Program Associate responsible for East Asia and Australia at the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars in Washington, DC. During his time at the Wilson Center he conceived and organised around sixty events concerning policy related issues in the region.

 

He is currently a lecturer in Area Studies and International Relations at Leiden University in the Netherlands. His teaching and research there has focused on East Asian International Relations and Japanese politics and foreign policy.

 

Bryce holds a PhD in politics from the University of Auckland and a master’s in international public policy from Osaka University.
