Call for Submissions: Senate Inquiry into the China-Australia Free Trade Agreement

Members of the Australian Institute of International Affairs have been invited to provide submissions to the Joint Standing Committee on Treaties.

 

On 17 June 2015, the proposed China-Australia Free Trade Agreement was tabled in Parliament and referred to the Joint Standing Committee on Treaties for inquiry and report. Members of all branches of the AIIA have been invited to make a written submission.

The terms of reference for this inquiry are to assess the impact of the agreement on Australia’s:

  • Economy and trade;
  • Domestic labour market testing obligations and laws regarding wages, conditions and entitlements of Australian workers and temporary work visa holders;
  • Investment; and
  • Social, cultural and environmental policies

You are not required to address the full terms of reference and may comment on terms of reference of your choosing.

The committee prefers to receive written submissions in electronic form, to be submitted online or via email: fadt.sen@aph.gov.au (as an attached PDF or Word Document).
