About Alexey Muraviev

Dr Muraviev is an award-winning strategic affairs analyst and a Senior Lecturer in International Relations and National Security at Curtin University in Perth

He is a Coordinator of the International Relations and National Security programs at Curtin University.

Dr. Muraviev undertook his undergraduate studies in Politics and History at Moscow State University (Russian Federation) and Curtin University of Technology. He holds a Bachelor degree with First Class Honours in Politics and International Relations, and a Doctorate in Political Science, both from Curtin University.

Alexey has commenced his professional career as a researcher in Strategic and Defence Studies and a lecturer in Politics and International Relations in 1998.

Since 1999, Alexey was instrumental in developing and teaching modules and professional programs in international relations (Master of Future Studies, Master of International Studies, Graduate Studies in International Relations) and strategic and defence studies. In 2001-02 he took a leading role in the development, management and teaching of Graduate Studies in Strategy and Defence (GSSD) program in Western Australia (in partnership with the Australian National University), and he was the Program Director until 2004.

Alexey took a leading role in the establishment of the International Relations & Global Security Research Unit at then the Division of Humanities, Curtin.

Alexey has about 50 publications on national and international strategic and defence affairs, including two books and one research monograph.

Alexey is a founder and Director of the Strategic Flashlight forum on National Security and Strategy.

He is a reviewer of the Military Balance annual defence almanach published by the International Institute for Strategic Studies (United Kingdom).

Between 2000 and 2012 he presented papers at 27 national and international academic and professional conferences.

Alexey offers his expertise and professional advise to state and federal governments and agencies, and to the private sector.
