The Australian Institute of International Affairs is pleased to announce the recipient of the AIIA publication support grant: ‘Arc of instability’ or ‘arc of opportunity’? Australia’s strategy in the South Pacific by Dr Joanne Wallis, to be published by Melbourne University Press. The book provides an original and high quality contribution on a topic of major relevance to Australian foreign policy: Australia’s changing approach to the strategically important South Pacific region. It seeks to shape Australian strategic and foreign policy debates by encouraging Australia to redirect its strategic policy to recognise and capitalise on the region’s potential and opportunities. Dr Wallis is a Senior Lecturer at the Strategic and Defence Studies Centre at the Australian National University. The book will be promoted through events at AIIA branches later in 2015 and in 2016.
