On Thursday 30 April the AIIA National Office and ACT Branch jointly hosted a roundtable dialogue with the its sister institute, the Chinese Institute of International Studies (CIIS). The dialogue focused on three topics:

1. Recent Chinese policy announcements, including the ‘One Belt and One Road’ policy to strengthen the Silk Road Economic Belt and the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road;

2. Prospects for multilateral cooperation in the Asia-Pacific region including through RCEP, TPP and APEC;

3. The threat posed by Islamic State to security in the Middle East and prospects for resolving issues associated with Islamic extremism moving into the future.

The AIIA would like to thank the CIIS for participating in the roundtable discussion and looks forward to more opportunities to strengthen the sister institute relationship in the future.
