The 2018 recipients of the Euan Crone Asian Awareness Scholarship were announced at the AIIA National Conference on 15 October. Four successful candidates were chosen: John Goldie (Australian National University), Vanessa Veronese (Monash University), Brenton Kanowski (University of Queensland), and Samantha Webb (University of Sydney).

John Goldie will use his scholarship to travel to Malaysia to conduct a study on the strategic implications of Chinese Belt & Road Initiative.

Vanessa Veronese will use her scholarship to support work experience studying the first integrated HIV testing and treatment surveillance system in Myanmar.

Brenton Kanowski will use his award for support while undertaking an internship with the Minister of Foreign Affairs in Papua New Guinea.

Samantha Webb will be researching the influence of Chinese development and investment in Laos.
