Faiza El-Higzi is a political scientist and social justice advocate. Faiza has worked in multiple public policy roles in Australia at both state and federal levels. Faiza also sits on a number of Boards such as Queensland Council for Social Services, Queensland Ethnic Broadcasting Association and Qld Domestic Violence Implementation Council among others where she advocates for diversity of voices in decision making roles and brings the voices of marginal groups.

Faiza has extensive on the ground experience working with refugees and unaccompanied minors in Australia. She also staged a number of public events such as the annual refugee symposium and International Women’s Day Forum.  She speaks at schools and community events about issues of representation and conflict such as Islamophobia, gender representation, ethnic diversity and Australia’s refugee policy. Faiza holds a number of post graduate qualifications in architecture, international business and education and is currently completing a PhD in political science focusing on the politics of gender in Shariah Law.
