Dr Michael Clarke is an associate professor at the National Security College, ANU. He is an internationally recognised expert on the history and politics of the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region, People’s Republic of China (PRC), Chinese foreign policy in Central Asia, Central Asian geopolitics, and nuclear proliferation and non-proliferation.
