Dr Danielle Chubb
Danielle Chubb is a Senior Lecturer in International Relations in the School of Humanities and Social Sciences at Deakin University and a founding member of the POLIS group in the Alfred Deakin Institute for Citizenship and Globalisation, Deakin University. She is also currently a Non-Resident Fellow at the Perth USAsia Centre.
Danielle’s research interests include the interplay of human rights, peace and security norms (particularly on the Korean peninsula), the role that transnational activists play in shaping normative and policy agendas and creating change, and Australian foreign policy and public opinion. Her publications include a 2014 book with Columbia University Press, which examines the way non-state actors have contributed to official South Korean discourses on inter-Korean relations, as well as a 2018 edited volume (with Andrew Yeo) published with Cambridge University Press. This volume brings together both academic and activist experts, and explores the evolution North Korean human rights activist networks and discourses from a transnational perspective.
In 2020, Danielle and co-author Ian McAllister (Australian National University) will publish a book on Australian foreign policy and public opinion, with Palgrave.
