Alex Jones worked in South Sudan from 2016 to 2018, initially as an analyst for the United Nations peacekeeping mission and then as a consultant for humanitarian organisations. Prior to this he worked for the governments of the United States, New South Wales and Italy as well as in the banking sector.

Alex Jones holds a Master of Political Economy from the University of Sydney and Bachelor of Business and Bachelor of Arts in International Studies from the University of Technology, Sydney.
