Abhijit Singh is Senior Fellow and Head of Maritime Policy Initiative at the Observer Research Foundation (ORF) in New Delhi. A former Indian naval officer, he was involved in the drafting of the Indian navy’s maritime strategy document “Freedom of the Seas” in 2007. He has written extensively on India’s growing maritime reach, security of sea-lines of communication and Indian naval operations in the Indian Ocean Region (IOR).
