China Rising
This episode of AIIA VIC’s Dyason House Podcast features Walkley Award Winner Rowan Callick discussing the rise of China and its implications for Australia.
Drawing upon his experience as China Correspondent and Asia-Pacific Editor for the Australian Financial Review and The Australian, Rowan Callick describes the transformation of China’s economy in the post-Mao era. He notes China’s adoption of a more assertive foreign policy and discusses the implications of the Belt and Road Initiative. He concludes that Australia can and indeed needs to strengthen its ties with China without compromising its longstanding alliance with the US.
Rowan Callick OBE FAIIA is a Walkley Award Winner and has worked as a China Correspondent and Asia-Pacific Editor to the Australian Financial Review and the Australian. He was awarded an OBE in 2014.
